This tool converts BMP images to WebP images. A bitmap image (BMP) is an unoptimized lossless image format that is often used as the standard image format for Windows. BMP files are typically very large in size, as all image data is stored in an uncompressed format. On the other hand, WebP is a highly efficient image format developed by Google that provides excellent compression and quality, making it ideal for use on the web. With this program, you can turn large and uncompressed BMP files into modern, efficiently compressed WebP files. The size of a WebP image depends on the degree of compression. With high compression, image quality is reduced but the size is significantly reduced. To control this, you can set the WebP quality in the options, using values from 0% (minimum quality, maximum compression) to 100% (maximum quality, minimum compression). The program also allows you to remove the background from the output WebP. If you want to do this, enable the removal option and specify the color by which you want to remove the background. To remove similar shades, you can increase the threshold value, and to preserve pixels within image objects, you can enable the mode to remove only external pixels. You can also view transparent/opaque regions in black and white mask mode, and make the edges of the image near the removed pixels invisible within a certain radius. Image-abulous!

In this example, we convert a large, uncompressed BMP image of macaroons and lavender flowers to the modern and compressed WebP format. We set the WebP quality to 90%, which results in a high-quality image with little compression and a small file size. (Source: Pexels.)
In this example, we convert a BMP image to a WebP image and make the background of the output image transparent. To do this, we enable the background removal mode, specify the light blue color "#aad2d2" in the options, and add 7% of similar shades. We also make the edges of the WebP semi-transparent, and output the image with a quality of 85%. (Source: Pexels.)
In this example, we create a WebP image from a BMP file with a high compression level. We set the quality of the output WebP to only 5%, which results in a blurry and fuzzy image. However, its file size is extremely small, at just 5 KB. We also remove the pale gray sky in the image, and demonstrate the operation of the "Remove Only Outer Pixels" mode, which preserved the pixels in the window areas from removal. (Source: Pexels.)
