This tool captures and extracts any frame from an animated GIF file. If the GIF is not animated, it simply shows the first frame (since a static GIF file only contains one frame). The extracted frame can be viewed separately from the GIF in the browser and downloaded with a single click in one of three formats: PNG, JPEG, or WebP. The GIF can also be played at a custom frame rate to make it easier for you to see which frame you want to extract. You can also reverse the order of frame playback and play the GIF animation from the last frame to the first. Information about the current frame is displayed both in the options and in the input status bar. Image-abulous!

This example extracts the 5th frame from a GIF file. It also enables GIF playback at 250ms per frame, so you can easier see all frames one by one and choose the right frame you want to extract.
This example lets you view the last, 6th, frame of a GIF animation. It also turns off the frame-by-frame GIF viewer so both input and output are static. To figure out how many frames there are in the GIF, see the options section (it says – total frames: 6).
In this example, we extract the single 1st frame from the GIF file and convert it to the JPG format for downloading. Since single-frame GIFs cannot be animated, we leave the player button disabled as it is not necessary. (Source: Pexels.)
