Free online compression effect to image adder. Just drag and drop your image here and it will automatically acquire pronounced compression artifacts. You can add the block effect (commonly seen in JPG image compression) or the glitch effect (commonly seen in WebP image compression). The compression effect can be applied to the entire image or to a selected area of the image. Created by engineers from team Browserling.

This tool adds a compression effect to an image, simulating artifacts commonly seen in JPEG or WebP image compression. You can choose the image area to which you want to apply the effect and adjust its strength. Depending on the type of compression, two effects are possible. The first is called the "Block Effect", which adds a pixelation effect, giving the image a mosaic appearance typically associated with heavy JPEG image compression. The second type of compression is known as the "Glitch Effect", which introduces distortion and blurriness, creating a surreal look reminiscent of heavy WebP image compression. For both effects, you can customize the strength of their application. The maximum effect is achieved at a value of 100%. You can apply the compression effect to either the entire image or a specific area. In the input preview, you can adjust this area using drag-and-drop. In the options, you can fine-tune it by specifying the X and Y coordinates (position of the top-left corner of the compression area) and the width and height (dimensions of the compression area). Regardless of the compression effect applied, you can download the output image in PNG, JPEG, or WebP format. Image-abulous!

In this example, we apply a glitch compression effect to the entire image. We select the entire image by clearing the region parameters in the options (in this case, the program extends the compression area to cover the entire image), and we apply maximum compression with a strength of 100%. In this example, we add a strong compression effect to only one half of the image. We choose the block effect (also known as pixelation effect in JPEG compression) and set it to maximum strength. As a result, the left side of the image appears as if it's part of a Minecraft game graphic, with heavy pixelation on all elements. (Source: Pexels.)
In this example, we apply a compression effect to a PNG image with a transparent background. By selecting the area of the blueberry branch, we apply the block effect with a strength of 99%. As a result, we obtain a mosaic effect on the blueberries while maintaining the transparent background. (Source: Pexels.)
