This tool converts JPEG images to WebP images. WebP is a new image format that offers smaller file sizes and better image quality than JPEG. WebP images are typically 25-35% smaller than JPEG images of comparable quality. This can significantly improve the loading time of a website with images. WebP images also tend to have better image quality than JPEG images, especially at high compression levels. The quality of a WebP image can be controlled in this tool in the options, adjusting it from a minimum of 0% to a maximum of 100%. WebP format also supports transparency, while JPEG does not. Therefore, in this program you can make some region of the image transparent. To do this, you need to activate the transparency mode and specify the color, the region of which will become transparent at the output. In the options, you can set the percentage match of similar colors in the image. Higher threshold values will lead to the replacement of more pixels with transparency. You can also make the edges near deleted areas translucent, in a certain specified radius. To control transparent areas, you can view them in the transparency preview, which shows transparent areas in black and opaque areas in white. Image-abulous!

In this example, we convert a fruit pie image from JPEG to WebP extension. We apply minimal image optimization by setting the quality to 90%. As a result, we get an output WebP image that is 20% smaller in size than the original JPEG. (Source: Pexels.)
In this example, we generate a hummingbird image at the minimum WebP quality level. The WebP format is known for its high quality at extreme compression levels. Therefore, even with maximum compression, WebP images remain visually legible and appealing. (Source: Pexels.)
In this example, we convert a JPEG image to WebP, creating a transparent region in the process. To do this, we enable the transparency mode and make the background color #ba7fa5 and 10% of similar shades transparent. We also enable the border-smoothing mode to completely remove the background pixels at the edges of the lollipop and vase. (Source: Pexels.)
