Base-64 Bitmap Encoder

World's Simplest Bitmap Tool

This is a free and fast online utility that converts BMP images to base-64 text. You can use the configuration options (below) to split the base-64 output into fixed-length lines (for example, 80 characters). Extra options allow you to enable URL-encoding, which will append the URL scheme "data:" at the beginning of base-64 output data. Created by graphics designers from team Browserling.

Tool Options

Base64 Length

If you enable this option, then base64 output will be split in fragments of a certain length.
Fragment size (line length).

Data URI Scheme

If you enable this option, then base64 output will have data: prefix added in front of it that will make it a valid Data URL.

What Is a Base-64 Bitmap Encoder?

This free online browser-based program converts a bitmap (an image with the .bmp extension) to base64 encoded data. Base64 uses 64 different ASCII characters to represent binary data and is used for sending binary data (such as images, files, or music) over plain-text protocols (such as email). As base64 text can get megabytes and megabytes in length, to improve its readability, you can split it into pieces of a certain length (in the options above). If this option is enabled, then every base64 fragment will be put on a new line. Additionally, you can add a data URI scheme signature in front of the base64 data, which will make it a valid inline data URL. Bmp-abulous!

Created with love by

We're Browserling — a friendly and fun cross-browser testing company powered by alien technology. At Browserling, we love to make people's lives easier, so we created this collection of online bitmap tools. Our BMP tools have the simplest possible user interface and work directly in your browser without downloads or installations. You can use them to edit bitmap images, change BMP bit depth and colors, resize bitmaps, create transparent BMPs, work with bitmap pixels and byte arrays, and much more. Behind the scenes, our bitmap tools are powered by our web developer tools that we've created over the years. Check them out!
