With this browser-based application, you can spell a calendar date and get English words as the output. You can choose from a variety of date formats, fully spell days and months or leave them as numbers. You can use full or abbreviated names of months (such as Jan, Feb) and days of the week (such as Mon, Tue), and use shortened spelling for years (such as twenty twenty for 2020, instead of two thousand and twenty). You can also spell the clock time values if it's present. Created by computer nerds from team Browserling.

This is a quick online utility for converting calendar dates to English text. You can turn a date in the standard international calendar format "YYYY-MM-DD" into a text date with spelled year, month, and day components. For example, you can enter the date "2022-05-06" as input and get the date "May sixth, twenty twenty-two" as output. You can also spell the date as "sixth of May, twenty twenty-two", "twenty twenty-two, May sixth", or "Friday, May six, twenty twenty-two". Our spelling algorithm provides more than twenty different text formats for output dates. You can choose the format you need from the list in the options. By default, the program spells all numeric date components but you can leave days or years as numbers. For example, the same date "2022-05-06" can be spelled as "Friday, May 6, 2022". You can also drop the years from a date altogether and get "Friday, May 6" or "sixth of May". This program can also spell a clock time in a date if it's present. For example, the date "2022-05-06 10:50" can be turned into a string "6th of May, ten fifty" or "6th of May, year 2022, 10 hours 50 minutes". A clock time is spelled in only those dates where it's present and a clock's format is also preserved (12-hr or 24-hr clock). If you need to spell only the time part, you can use our clock time speller tool, which provides many additional options and formats for converting times to text. Additionally, you can choose whether to write out the names of date and time components such as "years", "hours", "minutes", and "seconds". The "Use Short Month Names" and "Use Short Week Day Names" options let you print the abbreviated names of months (such as "Jun", "Jul", "Aug") and names of days of the week (such as "Wed", "Thu", "Fri"). If your dates are within the range of 1000 to 9999, then you can also use the abbreviated year format option. For example, you can get "twenty eighteen" instead of "two thousand eighteen" for the year 2018, and "thirty-five hundred and six" instead of "three thousand five hundred six" for the year 3506. Timeabulous!

In this example, we spell the birthday date of our co-worker. We convert the year, month, and day into words, using the format "MONTH the DAYth, YEAR". We also add the prefix "year" before the actual textual year.
In this example, we drop the year from the spelling and only write out the day, month, and clock time. We use the component words "hours", "minutes", and "seconds" in the output and we also preserve the original clock format, be it a 12-hour clock or a 24-hour clock. We use the spelling format "the DAYth of MONTH, YEAR" when writing the dates out.
In this example, we print the calendar dates using an abbreviated format for all components. We leave the days as numbers, convert the years to a shortened format by enabling the "Use Short Year Spelling" option, and abbreviate the names for months and days of the week to the first three characters.

We're Browserling — a friendly and fun cross-browser testing company powered by alien technology. At Browserling our mission is to make people's lives easier, so we created this collection of time and date tools. All our tools share the same user interface, so as soon as you learn how to use one of the tools, you'll be a master of all tools. Behind the scenes, our time and date tools are actually powered by our web developer tools that we created over the last couple of years. Check them out!
