With this browser-based application, you can find the day of the year for any given calendar date. It counts the number of days that have passed since the beginning of the given year until it reaches the given date and outputs this number. You can enter multiple calendar dates at once and get results for each date. You can also print the original dates in the output to visually see the day count and the date at the time. Note that the day count changes depending on if it's a leap year or a common year. Created by computer nerds from team Browserling.

This is a quick online utility for calculating the day number of any calendar date. It accepts any date as the input and finds out which day since the beginning of the year it is. For example, for the date 2024-01-01, the program will display "1", which means it's the 1st day of the year; for the date 2024-02-19, the program will display "50" as it's the 50th day of the year; and for the date 2024-12-31, the program will display "366" as it's the 366th day of the year (this year is a leap year). If the year is a common year, such as 2025-12-31, then the program will display "365" as common years have 365 days. You can find the year days for multiple calendar dates at once by entering each date on a separate line in the input field. The result for each date is printed in the corresponding output field. To always be able to understand which result is for which date, you can also print the given calendar date next to the day number. Timeabulous!

In this example, we calculate which day of the year the summer solstice of 2022 occurs. The summer solstice, also called midsummer, happens on June 21, 2022, so we enter this date in the input and find in the output that it's the 172nd day of the year.
In this example, we find the day number for the beginning date of each season in a leap year and a common year. We take 2025 as a common year and enter four dates for it: the beginning of spring (2025-03-01), the beginning of summer (2025-06-01), the beginning of autumn (2025-09-01), and the beginning of winter (2025-12-01). For a leap year, we use the year 2024 and enter the same dates. The output shows the day of the year for each season and we print them together with the original input season dates.
In this example, we generate day counter values for all calendar dates that are 10 days apart and that are divisible by 10. The list starts on 2015-01-10, which is the 10th day, and then each next day is incremented by 10, so the next one is 2015-01-20 (20th day), 2015-01-30 (30th day), etc.
This example shows various magic day numbers. A magic day number is either a round number, such as 100, 200, 300, or it has repeating digits, such as 101, 111, 202, 222, 303, 333, or it has increasing or decreasing digit sequences, such as 123 and 321.
In this example, the mischievous troublemaker Fibonacci once again had a go at our day counting algorithm. His first idea was to try finding Fibonacci days. These are the days that correspond to Fibonacci numbers. It turns out there are 13 days in every year that correspond to Fibonacci numbers. Here they are for the year 2020, which is a leap year. For a common year, they would be off by one starting from the March date.
In this example, we let another mathematician play with our tool. She immediately decided to find all calendar days that correspond to the constant pi 3.1415926535. The first day is the whole part of pi, which equals 3, and the next five days are pairs of pi digits – 14, 15, 92, 65, and 35.
You can pass input to this tool via ?input query argument and it will automatically compute output. Here's how to type it in your browser's address bar. Click to try!
