This tool converts JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) data structures to Extensible Markup Language (XML) configuration files. JSON and XML are two common formats for representing and transmitting data structures. XML has a stricter structure and syntax, using tags, attributes, and hierarchical document structure. Converting data between JSON and XML may be necessary to ensure compatibility and data transfer between different systems and applications. For example, if one system uses JSON and another uses XML, conversion allows to efficiently transfer data between them. In the tool options, you can customize the formatting of the output XML by selecting the preferred indentation style. You can indent the output XML using spaces, tabs, or choose no indentation, which will minify the XML. Additionally, our tool allows you to include a meta tag at the beginning of the XML output. This meta tag is also called XML declaration and it defines the character set used and the XML version. To convert JSON to XML back, you can use our reverse tool Convert XML to JSON. Json-abulous!

In this example, we convert a simple JSON object containing three key-value pairs into an XML document with tags representing JSON keys and tag contents representing JSON values. The JSON keys are "brand", "model", and "year" and JSON values are "Toyota", "Corolla", and "2022".
In this example, we transform a JSON array containing a sequence of numbers 0, 1, and 2 into XML. As XML has no notion of arrays, the tool uses a naming scheme "row-0", "row-1", etc. to represent each JSON array element as an individual XML element. All these elements are wrapped in the parent "root" element. Additionally, the "Add an XML Meta Tag" option is enabled, which adds the XML version and character set to the output.
In this example, we convert a JSON object with a nested structure to XML. The input JSON includes the main object with properties like "product" and "brand," followed by a nested "specs" object containing details about a laptop computer's processor, RAM, and storage. The program converts this nested data into a corresponding XML data structure, preserving the hierarchical structure. The output data is printed in a compact format without indentation.
You can pass input to this tool via ?input query argument and it will automatically compute output. Here's how to type it in your browser's address bar. Click to try!

We're Browserling — a friendly and fun cross-browser testing company powered by alien technology. At Browserling, our mission is to make people's lives easier, so we created this collection of JSON tools. Our tools have the simplest user interface that doesn't require advanced computer skills and they are used by millions of people every month. Behind the scenes, all JSON tools are actually powered by our web developer tools that we created over the last couple of years. Check them out!
