This online tool prepends one or more columns to a Tab Separated Values (TSV) table. Prepending columns means adding new fields at the beginning of each row, before the current first column, while keeping the existing TSV data in the same row order. The original cells are not rewritten or reordered; they are shifted to the right to make room for the new leading columns. In the "Columns to Prepend" option, enter the values that should be added to the left side of the table. To prepend a single column, enter one value for each input row. To prepend multiple columns, enter one row of tab-separated values for each input row. If the original TSV and the columns being prepended do not have matching field counts, you can keep rows as they are, skip incomplete rows, use empty fields, or fill missing fields with a custom value. The cleanup options can remove blank TSV rows and skip comment rows that begin with a selected marker, such as "#" or "//". To add fields after the last column, use our Append TSV Columns tool, and to place fields at a specific position, use our Insert TSV Columns tool. Tsv-abulous!

In this example, we prepend one new column to a TSV library catalog. The original table has "genre", "shelf", and "books" columns. In the options, we enter one "branch" value for each row. The tool adds the "branch" column before the current first column and shifts the original TSV fields to the right.
In this example, we extend a TSV plant list by placing two new columns at the far left of the table. In the options, we enter "zone" and "sun" values for each plant row. As a result, the original "plant", "color", and "height" fields move to the right, and the new "zone" and "sun" fields appear before them.
In this example, we prepend one "day" column to a TSV workout list. Before adding the new column, the tool removes the empty row and skips the "// old plan" comment row. There are four workout rows left, but only three "day" values are provided in the options, so the missing day is filled with the custom value "no-day".
You can pass input to this tool via ?input query argument and it will automatically compute output. Here's how to type it in your browser's address bar. Click to try!

We're Browserling — a friendly and fun cross-browser testing company powered by alien technology. At Browserling, we love to make developers' lives easier, so we created this collection of online TSV tools. Our tools have the simplest user interface that doesn't require advanced computer skills and they are used by millions of people every month. Behind the scenes, all our TSV tools are actually powered by our programming tools that we created over the last couple of years. Check them out!
