Simple and free online TSV column rotator. Just paste a Tab-Separated Values table into the form below, and the tool will rotate the table so that each input column becomes a single output row. You can skip comment lines by specifying their marker and decide how missing TSV cells are filled when records have uneven lengths. Created by programmers from team Browserling.

This online tool converts vertical Tab Separated Values (TSV) columns into horizontal TSV rows. It reads the input as a tab-delimited table, then rotates the layout so the first input column becomes the first output row, the second input column becomes the second output row, and so on. This is useful when a TSV export has fields stacked in columns, but another spreadsheet, script, or report needs the same fields arranged across rows. Empty input rows are removed during the conversion, and you can also skip comment rows by entering the marker that starts them, such as "#" or "//". If the TSV records are uneven and some rows are shorter than others, the tool can fill the missing cells with empty fields or with a custom value that you choose in the options. The result stays tab-separated, so it can be pasted back into spreadsheet software or saved as a clean TSV file. Tsv-abulous!

In this example, we rotate a small TSV table that tracks museum exhibit metrics. The input has three TSV columns named "exhibit", "visitors", and "guide", with each exhibit listed on a separate line. After conversion, these three vertical columns become three horizontal rows, making it easy to compare exhibit names, visitor counts, and guide assignments side by side.
This example converts TSV columns from an observatory night log into rows. The input includes an empty line and a comment row that starts with "//". By setting the comment marker to "//", the tool removes the note line before rotating the table. The remaining night, scope, target, and sky columns become four TSV rows in the output.
In this example, we convert an uneven TSV bookbinding order list from columns to rows. One order is missing its status, and the final order is missing both the due day and status. To keep every output row the same length, we select the custom fill mode and enter "pending" as the value for every missing cell.
You can pass input to this tool via ?input query argument and it will automatically compute output. Here's how to type it in your browser's address bar. Click to try!

We're Browserling — a friendly and fun cross-browser testing company powered by alien technology. At Browserling, we love to make developers' lives easier, so we created this collection of online TSV tools. Our tools have the simplest user interface that doesn't require advanced computer skills and they are used by millions of people every month. Behind the scenes, all our TSV tools are actually powered by our programming tools that we created over the last couple of years. Check them out!
